ATTACK! of the Killer Thong® is a comedy-horror that follows the adventures of three off-beat lady friends who plan a surprise birthday party for their girlfriend Alex. Each character celebrates a stereotype: Alex is the tomboy, Julie is the glamour puss, Debbie is the motherly intellectual and Mandy is the brave one.
The film's original plot is a journey into the subconscious and a throwback to the stalker, killer genre of horror movies from the '70s and '80s like Friday the 13th, Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The film makes use of the final girl and zombie horror concepts and the theme of waking up from a bad dream. The visuals explore the genre of surrealism. The pop media question of whether men look sexy in thongs is also examined in a unique and quirky way.
The original screenplay entered development in February 2007 and into pre-production in March 2009. The script went to principal photography on January 23, 2010 and entered into post-production in October 2011. It is slated for release in the Fall of 2012.
The all-Canadian production has been shot in Blu-ray HD format at various locations throughout Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and in Moncton, New Brunswick.
